What Is the First Point of Aries?
The spring equinox has many names. You may have heard of it referred to as the March equinox, or the vernal equinox. On the day of the equinox, the sun lines up with the Earth’s equator and the length of the day and the night is equal in almost all parts of the world. And for many centuries, this day has also been referred to as the first point of Aries. This year, the first point of Aries occurred on March 19, the earliest equinox we’ve had in more than a century.
Between 190-120 BCE, the Greek astronomer Hipparchus of Nicaea observed that the sun was within the constellation of Aries during the vernal equinox (hence the name, First Point of Aries). But due to the Earth’s wobbling, the equinox positioning changes by one degree every 73 years, which explains why the sun is currently aligned with the Pisces constellation today. In about 500 years, the sun will align with the Aquarius constellation, and so on and so forth. They say that every 26,000 years, the sun aligns with every constellation in the Zodiac.
Planetary Influences on Aries in 2020
The ruling planet for Aries is Mars. Mars was named after the Roman God of War and was said to be daring and fearless, much like an Aries individual. Mars boosts the strength, vivacity, and endurance of an Aries, to help them achieve their individual goals. And this season, Mars is radiating stronger vibes than usual. Amplify and redirect that fiery energy into your mind and body through our Clear Quartz Face Roller. As you massage your face with this crystal roller, you increase blood flow throughout your body, aiding in a boost of energy.
Another astrological phenomenon occurring within the Aries season is the passing of Saturn under the sign of Aquarius (a cardinal sign). Saturn is the planet of maturity, discipline, and boundaries. Pay attention to when your patience is being tested, and practice humility and endurance during this transitional phase. As we spend more time distancing ourselves from others, create a sacred space for your home with our Protection Energy Candle - Made with Amethyst, to create an aura of warmth and security. If cycles teach us anything, it’s that there is a beginning, middle, and end, and abiding by the Saturnian rules will help us get through to the other side of this moment.
Aries Personality Traits
Aries are known leaders, with their bold and courageous personality. They dive head-first into situations with an inspiring sense of passion and confidence. There is a reason why the Zodiac calendar begins with this fire sign, as Aries individuals are known initiators and innovators. Aries individuals are not afraid of placing themselves into challenging situations, though their impulsiveness can sometimes get in the way of channeling themselves constructively. They can benefit from practicing patience.
The Perfect Crystal Pairing for an Aries
Amethyst and Rose Quartz. Before leaping into action, an Aries individual can benefit from meditating with an amethyst stone, to boost intuition and constructive thinking. Meanwhile, a rose quartz crystal, a symbol for unconditional love and healing, will help an Aries keep their head up and find joy in everyday tasks. An Aries can benefit from a Pure Love Gemstone Candle - Made with Rose Quartz which is also sprinkled with clear quartz crystals, to help amplify the energy you create for yourself.
This Aries season, self-love and self-care is more important than ever, and Home of Chiji is here to help you navigate through this challenging time.
